Farmers' body to gherao Central Govt offices

Mysore, Apr 22 (UNI) The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi has decided to intensify its agitation against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal from May one by gheraoing all Central Government offices in Mandya district.

According to Samithi President G Made Gowda, all Central Government offices and nationalised banks would be blocked. Besides, road and rail traffic would also be disrupted. The Union and the State Governments had not taken any ''serious step'' on the issue despite the Samithi holding peaceful agitations, he lamented, calling upon all farmers and others to join the stir.

Meanwhile, farmers from Chandagala and Anasosale villages staged a dharna at the Silver Jubilee Park and blocked the Mysore-Bangalore expressway for some time. Dharnas also continued in Mandya, Maddur, Pandavapura and Srirangapatna.

In Mysore, the signature campaign by the Cauvery Kriya Samithi continued at K R Circle.
