K'taka: Dale Carnegie to set up training institute

Bangalore, Apr 22: The Sholay famed Ramanagaram town in Karnataka is all set to get a global tag with Dale Carnegie Training institute planning a major training centre, exclusively for the Information Technology.

Aimed to cater to middle and high rung IT professionals in all categories, including Management, the Centre will come up on a 30 acre land and would cater to the global requirements. It would be a fully residential one and initially offer six month training for the beginners.

The Dale Carnegie Centre would be the second IT finishing school in the Bangalore-Mysore IT belt with Raman International Institute of IT, that can accommodate 5,000 fresh graduates, commencing operations in Mysore next month. Incidentally, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy represents Ramanagram Assembly segment where megahit hindi film Sholay was extensively shot in the hilly tarrain near the town, about 50 km from here.

Karnataka IT and BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar told sources that a team of Dale Carnegie Training officials, including its Director Sanjay Jha, were in the city last week and had an inspection of the land. They were very impressed and if everything goes well, the work should start in September this year, he said.

Over the next two weeks Dale Carnegie Training would submit a project report, Mr Vidyashankar said. ''We are aggressively pushing the project.'' He said, already a few rounds of talks on the Ramanagaram project had been held with the industry experts and Bangalore University.

Though globally Dale Carnegie product need not have a university affiliation, for the purpose of Indian students, it was thought of involving Bangalore University. The Ramanagaram centre would be fully residential, unlike the Mysore finishing school for IT.

He said the Dale Carnegie Centre would ultimately emerge a leading global research and training centre.
