CPI urges AP Govt to reallocate assigned land to Dalits
Hyderabad, Apr 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) K Narayana today urged Chief Miinister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to reallocate the assigned lands to the Dalits at Thogaram village in Srikaklulam district.
In a letter to Dr Reddy here, he said, ''The government had assigned press of land to poor dalits in 1977 and the same was cancelled in 2000 following impositiion of Section 144 and cases against them.'' Mr Narayana lauded the government's decision to restore the assigned lands occupied by the influential people to the Dalits and said it was a step in the right direction.
He urged the Chief Minister to ameliorate the grievances of the Dalits in right earnest.
