Congress should join hands against 'injustices by LF Govt': Dasmunsi
Krishnagar, Apr 22 (UNI) Union Minister P.R.Dasmunsi today called on the people to join the mass movement against the Left Front government for their forceful acquirement of land from the poor peasants of Nandigram and Singur.
While crticising the government for their land grabbing in the ''name of industrialisation'', Mr Dasmunsi said, ''Industrialisation is essential, but not at the cost of killing innocent peasants or forcefully taking possession of their lands.
''In the 30 years of Left Front government, there has been no substantial industrial growth. Only in its name have they brought suffering to the poor people of this land,'' he added.
Speaking here at the Krishnagar Public Library grounds, Mr Dasmunsi urged the Congree Party to join hands to ''bring justice to the people of Nandigram and Singur.'' In response to the Nadia district Congress Committee's call, Mr Dasmunsi visited the district to speak to the partymen and urge them to combine their strengths to fulfil their agenda to bring justice to the poor peasants.
Meanwhile, Mr Dasmunsi denied that there were any split within the Congress with regards to the issue and that the party was determined to stay together under the directives of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi.
Others present on this occasion, included MLA Ajay De, Former MLAs Shankar Singh and Abdul Mannan and the Union Minister's wife Deepa Dasmunsi.
