HC allows B.Ed students to appear for exams
Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today allowed 94 B.Ed first year students from K J Somayya College, who had been refused permission by the college to appear for their final examinations, to write their examinations starting on Monday.
The college authorities had refused these students permission to appear for exams since they had failed to pay the additional fee, as approved by the Shikshan Shulk Nirdharan Samiti.
A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice S C Dharmadhikari granted permission to the students to appear for examination prasided they paid half of the enhanced fees within one week. The remaining half of the additional fee was subject to final outcome of the petition but the court has allowed the college to withhold results of students if they failed to pay the balance fee.
Nine of the 94 students had moved the Bombay High Court against the notice issued by the college authorities. These students had taken admissions after paying Rs 44,886 as provisional fee and had given written undertaking that they would pay differential amounts, in case the Samiti enhances the fee.
