GMR assures skill enhancement of airport emplyees

Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) GMR Group, a leading player in the airport infrastructure development business, today said it would lend prime importance to the security and skill enhancement of the airport employees at New Delhi and Hyderabad airports, in addition to infrastructure development.

Addressing the mediapersons here today, GMR Group CFO (Corporate Strategic Finance) Madhu Terdal said ''Besides absorbing the existing airport employees in a phase manner, integrating the mind of the airport employees, quality improvement in the services, advanced ambience and use of modern equipment for the security purpose is being taken seriously by the Group in the development of the airports.'' According to the Group, the process of training and upgrading skills of all employees to match up to the technological advancement and ambitious target to achieving 3.5 Airport Service Quality ASQ will accelerate the process of converting the IGI airport into a world-class airport before the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

In the wake of aviation boom in the country, GMR will pioneer AEROTROPOLIS in India. The concept envisages aviation-linked urban form, consisting of an airport surrounded by multi acres of space for multi-purpose activities like business-class hotel accommodations, restaurants, entertainment, window-shopping and recreation, he said.

The Greenfield Airport, being developed in New Hyderabad, will have all modern facilities and the entire area will be developed as a self-contained city with modern amenities, Mr Terdal added.
