CJI to launch initiative for inclusive society

New Delhi, Apr 21: A National Conclave of the Confederation of NGOs of Rural India would be held here from April 24 to 26 with the aim of building an inclusive society in the country through a development equation partnering the government, panchayats, civil society organisations and the private sector.

The three-day meet on the theme 'Equity and Social Justice in the Era of Knowledge Economy in association with Coalition for Rural Empowerment' would be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan.

The meet would discuss in-depth issues relating to Micro Finance, Micro Enterprises, Micro Insurance, Rural Development, Panchyati Raj System of government, equity and social justice through legal literacy. It would also focus on developing scientific temper for rural prosperity, ICT controlled education for economic progress, women empowerment through a host of economic related activities.

Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde, Minister for Minority Affairs A R Antulay, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan and Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan would address the Meet.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, National Commission for Women Chairperson Girija Vyas, Planning Commission member Syeda Hameed, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Shanta Sinha, LIC of India Chairman T S Vijayan and CVC Pratyush Sinha would also participate in the meet.

Senior Government officials like Commerce Secretary Gopal Krishna Pillai, Rural Development Secretary Subhash Pani, Science and Technology Secretary T Ramaswamy, Secretary in Panchayati Raj Ministry Meenakshi Datta Ghosh, Secretary in the Small Scale Ministry Chandra Pal, Chemical and Petrochemical Secretary Satwant Reddy and IGNOU Vice Chancellor V N Rajasekharan Pillai and other experts committed to the cause of NGO movement would also address the delegates.

CNRI is the National apex body of NGOs of rural India established with the objective of strengthening, coordinating and facilitating their working at the grassroots level for integrated development of rural India and emerge as a thinktank as well as a consultative body at national and international levels.
