Thrilling series on wildlife on DD from tomorrow
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) After the success of Green Oscar Winner Mike Pandey's environment series 'Earth Matters', Doordarshan is now coming out with a new one on the country's endangered wildlife.
Starting from April 21, the series titled 'Echoes from the Jungle' will be aired every Saturday at 1230 hrs, on DD (1) National.
To reach out to widest possible audience on the subcontinent, Hindi has been used for narration.
The 13-episode series is filled with the adventure of thrilling encounters with wildlife of the protagonist, Rajesh Bedi, India's leading wildlife photographer, and his team of Rashmi and Vijay Bedi.
The team travels extensively through the length and breadth of India; taking viewers from high icy mountains to steaming mangrove swamps, from scorching boundless deserts to misty evergreen forests.
Each episode excels the last in its striking portrayal of the difficulties and uncertainties faced in the filming of some of the most endangered wild animals of the sub-continent.
The series avoids the stereo-type documentary/narrative format.
But its production is designed to inform and entertain audiences of all ages.
Rare wildlife behavioural footage filmed over 30 years has been imperceptibly woven into the sequences with skilful editing and music to bring out engaging story lines. Viewers listen to the sounds of the forest, learn to track animals and interpret the signs of the jungle.
The protagonists approach the dangerous animals from recklessly close quarters and interacts with people and scientists on locations.
The programme conforms to higest international standards in terms of quality. Its approaches the subject with an undelying message of conservation.
The music is especially composed to reflect regional strains of the locales in which the episode were filmed. Visuals and music transpose to make 'Echoes from the Jungle' a memorable and exhilerating excursion through realm of nature.
The series is produced by Bedi Brothers, who have done pioneering work in the field of wildlife photography and filmmaking in the subcontinent for over 30 years.
They have produced several wildlife documentaries which have won national and international awards, including the prestigious 'Green Oscars'. Their recent film on red pandas 'Cherub of the Mist' have already won nine prestigious international awards in a short period of one year.
'Echoes from the jungle' has been their dream project to reach out to the maximum viewers in the subcontinent to spread awareness about our endangered species and urgent need for their conservation.
