Rajasthan wants Centre to monitor distribution of water

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) State of Rajasthan today accused Punjab of playing mischief by not releasing water to the state when it is needed most from Bhakra Beas during the hearing of water dispute case in the Supreme Court.

Rajasthan counsel demanded that Bhakra Beas Management Board which is under the control of the Central government should monitor the distriution of water so that Rajasthan can get its due share in time.

State of Haryana, which is also having running dispute with Punjab regarding completion of SYL Canal, also supported Rajasthan, A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices P K Balasubramanyan and R V Raveendran adjourned the hearing till August.
