Karnataka Nataka Academy to present Hindi plays in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) In an effort to give masses of Hindi heartland a glimpse of Kannada culture, a Kannada theatre group is presenting programmes for five days in Delhi, starting from April 22.

The Karnataka Nataka Academy will present four plays in Hindi at National School of Drama, highlighting the visions of 'Vachana' movement of 12th century.

'Shiva Sanchara', a theatre repertory of Karnataka which had presented four prominent Kannada plays in Hindi in various cities of the country, will be doing so now in Delhi, Vithala Murthy, secretary department of Kannada and Culture told newspersons here.

The group which has successfully presented four Kannada plays, including ''Rakta Kalyan'', penned by Jnanapith Award winner Girish Karnad, in Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata and Puri, will now present it in Delhi on the opening day.

This will be followed by another play titled ''Jangam Ki Oar'', written by Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamji on April 23 and P Lankesh's ''Sankranti'' on April 25.

On the final day, the group will be staging ''Maha Chaitra'' authored by H S Shivaprakash.

The Karnataka Government has provided a budgetary support of Rs 16 lakhs for the programme.

After New Delhi, the troup will to Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa.
