IIMB withholds despatch of admission letters following HRD directive
Bangalore, Apr 20 (UNI) The uncertainty continued over the admission process in the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore in the wake of the Supreme Court staying the Centre's notification about 27 per cent reservation for OBCs, with the Institute today announcing that it was withholding despatch of admission letters till the issue was sorted out.
''We are withholding admission letters of all candidates selected for PG programmes following today's direction from the Human Resource Development Ministry to suspend the admission process for the academic year 2007-08 till April 23 when the Supreme Court hears the quota issue,'' IIM-B Director Prakash G Apte told UNI here.
He said all details concerning the delay in despatch of letters would be available on its website for the benefit of students.
''We actually wanted to complete the selection of students according to last year's quantum of seats, leaving out the OBC quota which could have been taken up later, once the court came out with its verdict. However, the HRD Ministry had not responded to our letter in this regard. Following today's directives, we are postponing the selection process. We regret the inconvenience caused to students,'' he said.
