Haryana to rope in pvt sector to market tourism

Chandigarh, Apr 20 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to aggressively market its prominent tourist destinations jointly with private sector to give a major boost to tourism in the state.

This was stated by Haryana Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Choudhry at the 14th Annual South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Haryana is participating in this event for the first time.

Ms Choudhry said the State Government had been successful in involving the private players in various fields of tourism industry to collaborate with the Government to promote Haryana as a brand name.

Destinations such as Surajkund, Kurukshetra, Pinjore, Morni Hills and the places falling on the National Highways 1 and 2 passing through Haryana would be marketed in collaboration with the private sector.

''This reflects the shift in the strategy of Haryana Tourism to market not only the Haryana Tourism Corporation but to promote the entire state of Haryana on national and international level on the similar pattern of tourism promotion of the states of Kerala and Rajasthan,'' she added.

The Minister said after Highway Tourism, Haryana was now promoting Golf Tourism and Farm Tourism with 14 Golf Courses and a large number of registered Farm Houses.

As many as 25 countries, including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan, England, Malayasia, Dubai, Egypt and Germany, are participating in SATTE this year.
