Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir, Syed Tariq Ahmed Naqshbandi has charged three accused in two separate cases of corruption.

Charges were fixed against Ghulam Muhammad Wani of Bandipora, the then Accounts Officer Government Treasury, Bandipora, for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of nearly Rs 40 lakh.

The case was registered on December 30, 2006 under section 5/2 (read with section 12 and 14) of JK Public Men and Servants Declaration of Assets Act 1983.

In other case, the court fixed charges against Abdul Majid Bhat of Khrew and Abdul Majid Sheikh of Khanmov Pampore, assistants in JK Cements Ltd, for embezzling public money to the tune of nearly Rs 59,000.

The two accused had manipulated the records by issuing fake government receipts. During investigations, it was proved that government receipts were not issued by the Regional Transport Office, Kashmir, in lieu of token tax being paid by JK Cements Ltd for the vehicles.

The charge-sheet in the case was filed on December 27, 2006.
