2,101 quintals of paddy seeds for farmers in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture department has decided to provide more than 2,101 quintals of high yielding variety paddy seeds to farmers in the valley.
An official spokesman said the paddy seeds are being provided to the farmers at various sale outlets of the agriculture department during the current Khariff season.
He said about 60,000 metric tonnes of paddy was produced in Sopore in south Kashmir during the last year.
Beside, the farmers were provided 30 irrigation pump sets, 20 foot sprayers and 2 tillers on subsidized rates.
He said under Water Shed development programme, Rs 2.40 lakh were expended in Sopore during last fiscal. During the same period, Rs 65,000 were provided as subsidy in the sub division under technology mission to the local farmers.
