Step mother, father chop teenaged daughter to pieces, arrested

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Police have arrested the parents of an 18-year-old girl who was allegedly chopped to pieces after a quarrel with her stepmother in Sultanpuri area of North-West Delhi.

Lalita, who worked as a receptionist in a private company, was allegedly strangled by her parents on April 16 morning following a heated exchange of words with her stepmother Sushila, according to sources.

Later her father Nandan Singh (42), along with Sushila, kept the body in the bed-case and during late evening hours chopped the torso into pieces before dumping it near a 'nullah' close to their Pratap Vihar residence in Sultanpuri.

They later lodged a 'missing' complaint with the police the following day.

The matter came to light after the severed head of the girl was recovered yesterday and identified that of Lalita, whose 'missing' report had been made.

During sustained interrogation Nandan and Sushila accepted their guilt after which they were arrested. Police also found blood stains on the floor when they went to interrogate the couple.

Nandan had married Sushila soon after the death of his first wife two years ago, with whom he had four children including Lalita.
