Pune, Apr 19 (UNI) Three policemen attached to the CBI and their accomplice were arrested for looting ornaments from a jeweller's employee worth Rs 7.52 lakh on Pune-Solapur Highway on Tuesday night.

Police said that the four accused stopped a bus in Bhavani Peth area in which Yuvraj Singh Balrajsingh Bayas (65), an employee of Solapur based businessman, was travelling. They dragged Bayas out, took him in a police jeep to an isolated spot, snatched the jewellery he had, accused him of stealing and fled from the scene. A stunned Bayas took the help of a motorcyclist and approached the police in Hadapsar area. He was then directed to another 'chowky' as the spot of the crime did not come under their jurisdiction. However, with the help of Loni-Kalbhor Police, the accused were nabbed and later arrested.

The looters have been identified as Vijay Devdan Kale of the SRPF Group II, Constables Navnath Prabhakar Pingale of Crime Branch Pune, Pratap Hanumanth Gaikwad of the Motor Transport Section and a fourth accomplice Umesh Ramchand Parmar. The police has recovered the jewellery from them.

Meanwhile, State Home Minsiter R R Patil has sent a congratulatory message to the Loni-Kalbhor Police for cracking the case in just five hours.
