Pain in the head, art in the mind
New Delhi, Apr 19(UNI) People suffering from migraine would hardly be considered capable of churning out works of art. Yet this is what some of them, including children, did at a painting competition.
The competition was jointly organised by the producers of "Kar Bhala Soch Bhala" a health related programme on Doordarshan and the SP foundation here yesterday.
All the self reported migraine sufferers were asked to draw, paint or illustrate their own impression of any form of pain associated with a migraine attack the effect migraine has on their lives.
The organisers said approximately 550 pictures were received from all over the country. Among them, ten finalists were called for the final round in the national capital.
Chandni D Baheti,16, from Chira bazar, Mumbai, a student of HR College won the first prize of Rs 51,000. Aboli Kadam, 17, of MIT, Pune won the second prize of Rs 31,000 and Jyoti, 22, from Yamuna Vihar, Delhi won the third prize of Rs 11,000. Rs 1100 each was distributed to the remaining finalists.
Chandni named her painting " Mother and sick child" and Aboli titled her work "Doctor and Patient" while Jyoti named her creation as "Blood Donation".
The prizes were distributed by the judges of the competition artist Shamshad Hussain, and Dr Sheel Kumar, a neurosurgeon.
Ms Shubhadarshini Singh, producer-director of "Kar Bhala Soch Bhala" compered the programme.
The next competition will be organised for mentally ill children, Ms Singh said.
