Maniratnam, Rajiv Menon, Priyadarshan invited for Abhi Ash wedding

Chennai, Apr 19 (UNI) Celebrities from the film industry down south have not been, after all, left out of the list of invitees from the tinsel world to the much publicised wedding of Bollywood icons Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in Mumbai tomorrow.

The Bachchan family may not have included artistes of the stature of a Kamal Hassan or a Rajnikant in the list of invitees but Director Maniratnam, cinematographer turned Director Rajiv Menon and the Malayalam and Hindi film Director Priyadarshan have suerly been invited to bless the couple, industry sources here confirmed.

Maniratnam, who has a 'special' friendship with the Bachchan family and as the filmaker who had given a boost to Abhishek's career as a capable actor in his latest 'Guru', was an obvious name among film buffs guessing or wondering who has been invited from Tamil, Malayalam or Telugu cinema for the wedding.

So is Rajiv Menon, who had photographed Aishwaraya in 'Guru'after directing her in his own film 'Kandukonden Kandukonden', a few years ago. Rajiv flew down to Mumbai from Kochi, according to his office here.

As for Priyadarshan, maker of hits like 'Chitram' and 'Boeing Boeing' in Malayalam and a few hits in Bollywood, he had directed Abhishek in a few ad films.

Priyadarshan is also in Mumbai already, the sources confirmed.

Maniratram's Pro also indicated that the maker of commercial classics like 'Nayakan' 'Roja', and 'Yuva' which starred Abhishek, would be there for sure.
