CPM slams Koda govt for delaying panchayat election in J'khand
Ranchi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today reiterated its demand for holding panchayat and municipal election in Jharkhand saying the state was being deprived of Central assistance due to delay in holding the elections.
Party state secretary Gyanshankar Mazumdar said the UPA backed Madhu Koda government was responsible for the delay due to which Jharkhand was deprived of central funds needed for developmental projects adding the government should convene an all party meeting on holding the elections.
Mr Mazumdar urged the state government to make proper amendment in Jharkhand Panchayat Raj Act 2001 for indirect election to the post of Mukhiyas.
Mr Mazumdar alleged that developmental funds in the state were being looted by middlemen, contractors and corrupt officials.
