Chennai, Apr 19 (UNI) Allegations from main Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly AIADMK that the ruling DMK was trying to detain one of the shareholders of Jaya TV under the Goondas Act, today triggered heated exchanges in the House and resulted in walk out by the members of opposition.

During Zero Hour, AIADMK Whip K A Sengottaiyan alleged that the government was trying to victimise Industrialist Vaikundaraja of V V Minerals, one of the shareholders in Jaya TV and involved in sand mining, while two others engaged in the same trade were let scot free.

Denying the charge, Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy said the government would not take any vindictive action against anyone and had no intention to disrupt the functioning of Jaya TV, unlike the previous AIADMK government, which tried to cripple the functioning of Sun TV.

He said action was being taken against Mr Vaikundaraja, not because he happened to be a shareholder of Jaya TV, but because he violated the mining rules.

Accepting Mr Sengottaiyan's challenge, he said the government was willing to appoint an inquiry commission not only against Vaikundaraja and two others, but also against all those violating the rules.

Dissatisfied with the reply from the Minister, the AIADMK members led by Mr Sengottaiyan staged a walk out and its ally MDMK followed suit.
