Rs 1,200 crore paid to Haryana farmers for wheat purchase
Chandigarh, Apr 18 (UNI) The Haryana Government had made payments amounting to Rs 1,204 crore to the farmers for the purchase of 14.17 lakh tonnes of wheat procured upto yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.
Mr Mohan added that HAFED had purchased 5.09 lakh tonnes of wheat and had disbursed a sum of Rs 433.37 crore.
Food and Supplies Department had procured 3.63 lakh tonnes and payment of Rs 309 crore had been made. Similarly, Food Corporation of India had procured 1.89 lakh tonnes of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 152.74 crore to the farmers.
He said Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 1.34 lakh tonnes and paid a sum of Rs 114.23 crore. Similarly, Haryana Warehousing Corporation had procured 1.22 lakh tonnes and disbursed a sum of Rs 103.74 crore. Confed had purchased 1.07 lakh tonnes and the payment of Rs 91.41 crore had been made to the farmers.
He said that as much as 15.47 lakh tonnes of wheat had arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far, out of which 14.17 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies so far.
The traders had purchased 1.30 lakh tonnes of wheat, he added.
