Lok Ayukta summons K'taka Tourism Minister

Bangalore, Apr 18 (UNI) Controversial Karnataka Tourism Minister B Sreeramulu has been summoned by the Lok Ayukta for making certain derogatory remarks against the Lok Ayukta and his family members.

The Minister had been asked to be present before Lok Ayukta N Santosh Hegde on May three for giving an explanation about his remarks, televised by a private channel on April seven with regard to a land dispute in Bellary. The Lok Ayukta had also initiated contempt proceedings against Mr Sreeramulu, taking cognisance of the remarks.

Mr Sreeramulu's reported remarks against the Lok Ayukta was in the wake of the action initiated by Mr Hegde to recover Government land held unauthorisedly by some people.

The Lok Ayukta, in a release here, claimed that Mr Sreeramulu had interfered with the eviction process and made certain ''derogatory and scandalous remarks against the Lok Ayukta''.
