Issue of alleged police misbehaviour with MLA kin again rocks Assy
New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) The issue of alleged police misbehaviour with Congress MLA Mahabal Misra's kin rocked the Delhi Legislative Assembly again today with Misra and other Congress members indulging in noisy scenes demanding summoning of Police Commissioner K K Paul in the matter.
Raising the issue immediately after the Question hour in the House, Mr Misra, alleging that an additional SHO of his Naseerpur constituency, had misbehaved with his daughter during the counting of votes for the MCD polls on April 7, demanded that an FIR be registered in the matter and the official concerned suspended.
This was followed by noisy scenes by members from the Congress and the NCP who demanded that the matter being concerned with the safety and security of an MLA of the House, the Commissioner be summoned immediately for an explanation on the issue.
In fact, NCP MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Mahabal Misra sat in the well of the house shouting slogans against the Delhi police.
The bedlam forced the Speaker Prem Singh to adjourn the House for 15 minutes. When the House resumed immediately after the break, Mr Bidhuri and Mr Misra reiterated their demand.
The Speaker said the Chief Minister had talked to the Commissioner in the matter and he had assured that he would send a reply in the matter by this evening.
''He has assured that the official concerned would be transferred and an FIR registered in the matter. However, a written reply in the matter is awaited,'' the Speaker said.
On the Speaker's assurance, the members resumed their seats.
It is notable that in response to raising of the issue in the House last week, the Speaker wrote to the Police Commissioner to conduct an inquiry on the alleged police misbehaviour.
Mr Misra has alleged that the police refused to lodge an FIR against the official concerned.
