Indian Army all set for 'Operation Ashwamegh' on western border
Jaisalmer, Apr 18 (UNI) The Indian Army is gearing up to undertake one of its biggest military exercises 'Operation Ashwamegh' on western borders soon.
The exercise would display the importance of communications and network in today's warfare techniques.
The Indian army's Artillery Arms and Mechanised Infantry will hold joint exercises from April 24 to May 7 in the desert areas of the state.
Army sources said, one of the strongest armies in the world - the Indian Army will demonstrate warfare exercises like battlefield controlling from war room and the method of winning a war through warfare controlled by network.
The network centric warfare involves thrashing the enemy by controlling the war from war room in which the the Army unit is divided into two groups. One of the groups will assimilate into enemy while the other would attack from the other side. The warfare would include firing on the enemy through tankers.
The exercise will include T 90 Tanks, 155 M M of Bofors, Anti-Tank Guided missiles, Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher and Defence Guns Missile Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher.
Such a military exercise was last undertaken one and half years back in Pokhran field firing range in Jaisalmer district.
