New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) The Congress today claimed there was a stamp of defeat on the incumbent Samajwadi Party-led Mulayam Singh government with the completion of each phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and said that the ruling party was in "collusion" with the BJP.

"Each defeat in three phases and the remaining four phases will constitute a political end to the Mulayam government," AICC Spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told mediapersons here.

Saying that each phase was no less than a torturous phase, he said each of them "constitute a nail in the coffin of the Samajwadi Party government." Dr Singhvi said the Samajwadi party had lost its moral and human battle many times over.

In this context, he pointed out that the UP government had lost a battle when Nithari serial killings were reported. It lost another battle when large-scale corruption in the government became public.

It lost a moral battle when the Supreme Court stigmatised the Mulayam Singh government for buying MLAs, followed by the apex court reversing several transfers made by the Samajwadi Party to come to power in 2004.

Accusing the Samajwadi Party of "colluding" with the BJP, Dr Singhvi said there was not a whisper of protest against the distorted, communally sensitive CD circulated by the BJP. "This clearly shows their collusion." Asked if the Congress subscribed to the manifesto and campaign points of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), he said, "We are fighting the BSP in every seat in Uttar Pradesh as much as we are fighting against any other political party."
