DMRC inducts simulator to train personnel in real-time situation
New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) In order to save time and money in training 'Operators', the Delhi Metro has inducted a Rs 11 crore 'Driving Cab Simulator' to introduce real life situations minus the risks of on-hands training.
The equipment would help in training people with real time, actual feel, on-hands experience that saves not just time and money but also spare the trains for training the staff, Director (Electrical), Satish Kumar, told media persons.
''It would also help nearly 300 train operators, besides the 200 station controllers of the DMRC get their 'refresher training' in real-time situations.'' "We have created 500 situations for training the personnel and added 120 'faults' that need to be tackled while operating the train," he said. He also added that besides this, 20 abnormal situations have been created to handle emergency situations, like that of people jumping before the train.
The Driving Cab Simulator simulates the operating environment of the 'Metro train' to train as well as test the efficiency of train operators through situations like visual environment, train behaviour, cabin environment and track side equipments (signals, turnouts, etc) to give a real life experience.
Through this, knowledge of railway line, driving rules and signaling, driving skills, troubleshooting skills and operation of the train in case of faults, defects and accidents are imparted, practised and enhanced.
