Ludhiana, Apr 18 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail applications of two of the accused in the multi-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam, in which former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh is one of 18 accused.

The bail applications of Amit Sardana and Kamal Verma came up for hearing in the Additional Sessions court here. The Judge, Gurbir Singh rejected the bail applications of the two, both of whom are under detention.

Sardana and Verma are employees of a consultancy firm hired by Today Homes and Infrastructure that executed the multi-crore, Ludhiana City Centre project last year.

The Court also rejected the anticipatory bail application of Capt Rajesh, another accused in the scam. The Court has fixed April 24 as the date for hearing the anticipatory bail application of Saurabh Gupta, a Today Homes official.

The Court has already issued arrest warrants against six of the accused including former minister Chaudhry Jagjit Singh and former chairman of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust Paramjit Singh Sibia.

The scam was probed by the Vigilance Bureau and a case was registered last month against Capt Singh and others. Capt Singh has already been granted anticipatory bail in the case by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
