327 historical monuments conserved
Bhopal, Apr 18 (UNI) Conservation of 45 archaeological monuments of historical importance have been taken up in Madhya Pradesh in the past two years, official sources said today.
As many as 327 monuments were being conserved by the state Directorate of Archaeology. This included 24 monuments conserved in 2005-06 and others in the next year.
Only 282 archeological monuments were being conserved till 2001.
Documentation of these monuments had been done following a detailed survey about their historical significance.
Recently, conservation of six monuments at tourist spot Mandu in Dhar district has been undertaken. This included Andha Mahal, Andhi Mahal, Madan Koi Sarai, Kothari Sarai, Roja ka Maqbara and Foota Mandir.
Besides, conservation of Sagar-based Lady Dufferin Hospital has also been undertaken. The hospital -- which was built during the British period -- is historically significant due to its special vaastukala.
