Steps being taken to grant ACP to teachers in UT: Shahjahan

Puducherry, Apr 17 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to grant Assured Carreer Progression (ACP) to teachers in the Union Territory, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told the Legislative assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Shajahan said the ACP would be granted on the lines of Delhi pattern and preliminary works in this regard were on.

Answering another question, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said steps were being taken to increase the strength of the police constables here.

Mr Rangasamy said the administration was planning to increase the strength of police personnel in all the stations and the Centre had been approached in this regard.

On the issue of women constables, the Chief Minister said 61 newly recruited women constables undergoing training would be posted immediately after completion, he said.

CPI member R Viswanathan pointed out that due to the absence of adequate police force, Kattapanchayats (Kangaroo court) had emerged in several areas.
