Rains bring relief from heatwave in Akola, hailstorm damages crops

Akola, Apr 16 (UNI) People in several parts of west Vidarbha region got respite from severe heat waves, following moderate to heavy rain showers, but crops were damaged and some cattles perished in the hailstrom experienced in Murtizapur area of Akola district and rural parts of adjoining Washim district.

Several crops were damaged, 10 goats perished, and cattles were reported missing, owing to the severe hailstorm that hit the villages nearby Kalamba Mahal in Washim district.

Normal life had been disrupted as people panicked due to severe hail storms experienced in the area.

Tomato, brinjal, amaranthus, cabbage, chilli and corriander crops were heavily damaged, farmers said.
