Hemophilia Society observes World Haemophilia Day
Jamshedpur, Apr 17 (UNI) Jamshedpur Chapter of Hemophilia Society (JCHS) on the World Haemophilia Day today organised a free camp for the patients here.
Inaugurating the camp, Tata steel's Community Development and Social Welfare (CD&SW) head G M Sharan stressed the need on creating awarness about Haemophilia.
Regretting the lack of medical amenities to the haemophiliacs and knowledge about the genetic disorder, Mr Sharan said as the cost of treatment was very high, the patients from economically weak section would benefit from the organisation.
JCHS founder and secretary Soumitra Hazra, a haemophiliac, said two doctors attended about twenty patients in the camp.
Mr Hazra said Haemophilia is a genetically inherited bleeding disorder found in all races and social groups.
Though the disease is incurable but could be managable through education and small quantitiy of Anti Haemophilic Factor.
He said the Society under the Haemophilia Federation of India and the World Federation of Haemophilia, aims to locate undiagonosed persons to educate and provide information about the disease and its treatment at an affordable cost.
