Female Ratio increases from 819 to 857 in Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 17 (UNI) Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi today said that with persistent efforts of the state government, the female ratio per thousand in the state had increased from 819 to 857.
The Minister, while addressing people at the physical fitness event organised on the World Health Day today, called upon the people to wage a crusade against the menace of foeticide which was posing a great threat to the social fabric of the society and was creating inbalance in sex ratio.
The Minister said the state government had launched a number of welfare and ambitious schemes to empower women while referring to improvement in sex ratio in the State.
She said that 53 per cent deliveries were being taken place in the delivery huts. The government had sanctioned a sum of Rs.
10,000 for a health worker to meet the emergency requirements posted in the delivery hut.
Mrs Kartar Devi also said that Haryana Government was giving special thrust to promote rural sports and it had been decided to set up rural stadia at a cost of Rs 50 lakh in each block.
