Kolkata, Apr 17 (UNI) The heart only beats to the rhythm if there is melody, without melody there is no music.

That is what percussionist Abhishek Basu told UNI after releasing his second album 'Searching for Nirvana' last night.

Abhishek Basu, at the release of his album, performed live from its tracks, accompanied by his World Music Project Team Impromtu Symphonic Mind (ISM).

The audio CD album was released here by Bengali film director Subrata Sen.

In the album, classical vocalist Ambarish Das's smooth and romantic voice is fused with the rhythm of Abhishek's percussion with such dexterity that the audience has no choice but to sway to the beat of the music.

Abhishek, whose first public performance was at the age of eight, said that he had a habit of beating utensils at home. He found his guru, famous percussionist Bikram Ghosh, at the age of six and started learning under his guidance.

The vibrations in the mind of this 24-year-old percussionist, whose instruments include not only tabla and tabla bol, but also pakhawaj tabla, handsonic, darbukka, kanjira and his unique form of mouth percussion and shakers, plays with different ragas to create an amazing blend of rhythm and melody.

He also accompanies Ambarish Das in the vocals in this album along with Somdutta Basu in the track 'Milan', Jojo Mukherjee in 'Tere Bina' and Monali Thakur in 'Soulmate'.

His unique form of mouth percussion, where he plays with his cheeks, tongue, teeth and hands, gives a strange clarity and a butterfly effect to the tabla bol.
