Andhra provides jobs to 19.15 lakh households under NREGA
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) As many as 19.15 lakh households demanded employment and provided jobs under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act NREGA while 46,000 households completed the 100 days of guaranteed employment in the first year of NREGA implementation in Andhra Pradesh.
NREGA was launched in 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh during 2006-07 and has further been extended to 6 more districts during the current financial year.
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as better performing state as far as implementation of NREGA is concerned. The number of person days of employment provided in the State is 548.23 lakh. The average person days of employment provided in a district stands at 42.17 lakh compared to the national average of 36.47 lakh person days.
Of them, 53.59 per cent are provided to women, 30.31 per cent to SC and 12.62 per cent to ST. The employment provided was on 1,78,844 works, of which 55,757 number of works have been completed.
The average number of works taken up in a district is 13,757 against the national average of 3,581. The average number of households provided employment in a district of the State is 1,47,325, while the National Average stands at 91,685.
An amount of Rs. 999.61 crore was released to the State during 2006-07 of which Rs.512.53 crore was utilized till February 2007, which is 46.25 per cent of the total availability. The expenditure on wages stood at 87.76 per cent, material at 0.89 per cent% and on administration 11.35% was spent. The average expenditure on a district came out to be Rs 39.43 crore compared to the National average of Rs 35.00 crore.
As far as Arunachal Pradesh is concerned NREGA was initially launched in one district and has further been extended to two more districts during the current financial year. During the first year of its implementation, 0.17 lakh households demanded employment and all of them have been provided.
The number of person day of employment provided in the State is 4.53 lakh compared to the national average of 36.47 lakh person days. Of them, 30.02 per cent are provided to women and 100 per cent to members of ST. The employment provided was on 496 works, of which 397 number of works have been completed. The average number of works taken up in a district is 496 against the national average of 3,581.
The average number of households provided employment in the State is 16,926, while the National Average stands at 91,685.
An amount of Rs 12.11 crore was released to the State during 2006-07 of which Rs 2.21 crore was utilized till January 2007, which is 18.27 per cent of the total availability. The expenditure on wages stood at 98.90 per cent and on administration 1.09 per cent was spent. The average expenditure on a district came out to be Rs.
2.21 crore compared to the National average of Rs 35 crore.
