13.77 lakh MTs of wheat arrives in Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 17 (UNI) As much as 13.77 lakh MTs of wheat had arrived in 358 mandis of the State making a record during the current rabi season, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.
He said with yesterday's arrival of 2.29 lakh MTs the total arrival of wheat in the mandis during last four days was 7.36 lakh MTs, which was more than 50 per cent of the total arrival of 6.41 lakh MTs from April 1 to April 12.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that Kaithal district has surpassed Karnal district as total 2.88 lakh MTs had arrived in the district Kaithal followed by Karnal 2.74 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 1.84 lakh MTs, Jind 1.67 lakh MTs, Kurukshetra 1.53 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.07 lakh MTs, Panipat 79,789 MTs, Sonipat 38,468 MTs and Ambala 36,941 MTs.
Mr Chander Mohan said out of the total wheat arrival, 12.66 lakh MTs had been procured by the six Government procuring agencies while the traders had purchased 1.11 lakh MTs of wheat at the minimum support price of Rs 850 per quintal including a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal.
While giving detail of purchase of the wheat by six government agencies, he said HAFED had procured 4.54 lakh MTs, Food and Supplies Department had procured 3.20 lakh MTs of wheat, Food Corporation of India 1.57 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 1.27 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1.07 lakh MTs of wheat and Confed 99,081 MTs.
Mr Mohan said a sum of Rs 2,195 crore had been sanctioned for the payment of wheat which was being made within three days to the farmers.
