13 killed, 29 injured as minibus plunges into gorge in Poonch

Jammu, Apr 17 (UNI) At least 13 people were killed and 29 others injured when a minibus plunged into a 600-foot-deep gorge at Sabzian in the bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today, police said.

An overcrowded minibus on its way from Sabzian to Mandi skidded off the road at Soul while negotiating a sharp bend at 0845 hrs, police said.

Army troops from nearby pickets rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

Thirteen people, police said, died on the spot while the injured were being brought out of the gorge.

They were being shifted to District Hospital, Poonch.
