Protest over 'kidnapping' of TADCDC leader
Guwahati, Apr 16 (UNI) The Tirap Autonomous District Council Demand Committee (TADCDC) today threatened to launch a state-wide agitation if the Asom government failed to trace its working president Prasanna Turung and his wife, who were allegedly kidnapped on April 8.
Turung and his wife, Komai, are reportedly missing since the night of April 8.
TADCDC president Sao Aimoun Sakhap said even after eight days of the 'kidnapping', the administration had failed to initiate any action to lacate them.
''While the police seem to be unwilling to accept their failure, they have alleged that the matter was family-related,'' Sakhap said.
Armed with the support of a number of other social and student organizations, the TADCDC has also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister in the regard.
The TADCDC has been demanding autonomy status to the erstwhile Tirap tribal belt area in the Margherita subdivision of Tinsukia district.
