Patil to present Police Medals to NCRB officials

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will present Indian Police Medals for meritorious services to Joint Assistant Director Darwan Singh Sajwan and Deputy Superintendent (retd.) Chet Narayan Kumar at the National Crime Records Bureau investiture ceremony tomorrow.

Mr Patil would hand over the renewed ISO 9001:2000 Certification given by the Bureau of Indian Standard to the Director of NCRB Sudhir Awasthi. He would also present the Late Khan Bahadur Azizul Haque rolling shield to the top merit holder of the All India Board Examination for fingerprint experts for the year 2006.

The Minister of State for Home, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Additional Secretary (CS) and senior officials from the Central Police Organisations, Delhi Police and government officials would attend the Investiture Ceremony.

The NCRB was established in 1986 under the ministry with the primary mandate of functioning as a clearing housing of information on crime and criminals and collecting and processing crime statistics. Over a period of time the NCRB has taken up the implementation of national projects on Police computerization and crime and criminal information systems. It has been striving to assist the state governments and other police agencies in setting up of databanks for ensuring availability of correct, complete and reliable information on crime and criminals.
