Merlin Grp to set malls in Jaipur, A'bad, Raipur

Kolkata, Apr 16: Merlin Group, a Kolkata based real estate company, will set up malls, including "Homeland", a speciality mall showcasing wide range of products like furniture fixtures to home appliances, in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Raipur and Siliguri.

Speaking to reporters, Company Managing Director Sushil Mohta said, ''We are planning to set up more malls in big cities like Jaipur and Ahmedabad where we have already taken up real estate projects. The areas of these malls will be much bigger than the Kolkata one, with an area of around 2.5 lakh square feet. We may set one or two more "Homelands" or multiplexes with areas dedicated for Homeland.'' The company today opened its first "Homeland", spread over 1.5 lakh square feet, here.

"Homeland", with 150 retail outlets, has Godrej, German company Hiettich, Berger and Modiguard showrooms. ''The Homeland has been built on the model of HomeDepot in America with an investment of Rs 100 crore,'' he said.

''Being a builder myself, I experienced a lot of problems while sourcing right kind of materials. HomeLand will make things easy for builders, interior designers and individual customers as well,'' he said.

"Homeland" has a special product launch area, exhibition halls, handicraft centres. ''Art and handicrafts from various parts of Bengal, like earthen puppets, dokras, bags, in the handicraft centre,'' he said.

The company will set up 'Acropolis', a stadium cum commercial project with proposed constructed area of 8,00,000 square feet, in Raj Danga in South 24 Parganas with a proposed investment of Rs 300 crore.
