VHP to hold protest rally against Sethu project on Apr 18

Chennai, Apr 15 (UNI) The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) will organise a protest rally and public meeting at Rameswaram on April 18, against the demolition of Ramar Palam (Adam's bridge) for carrying out dredging under the Sethu Samudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP).

VHP Central Vice-President S Vedantam, in a statement here today said as the Ramar Palam had both archaeological and mythological significance, its destruction would deeply hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

He urged the Centre to implement the project in an alternative route so as to protect a ''symbol of India's national pride.'' UNI
