Teachers attempt to gherao CM's residence

Imphal, Apr 15 (UNI) About 200 teachers, who were recently appointed by the Manipur government tried to march towards the official residence of Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh at Imphal today.

Police, however, stopped them from proceeding further some hundreds yards from the residence. Before they dispersed a scuffle ensued for brief period in which no one was arrested.

The teachers were demanding handing over of appointment orders by the government. They demanded an audience with the Chief Minister.

They had to go back disappointed as the Chief Minsiter was not at his residence. Later they submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister urging the government to immediately assign them duties and give appointment letters.
