Taslimuddin exhorts dalits to fight for their rights
Kishanganj, Apr 15 (UNI) Union Minister of State and RJD leader Taslimuddin called upon the dalits and the downtrodden to become more assertive in putting forth their bonafide claims and get the right place in the society.
Addressing a meeting to celebrate the 116th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, he here yesterday said that it was regrettable that sixty years after country's independence, the dalits and harijans continued to wallow in misery and deprivation and had not as yet got the rightful place in the country.
On this occasion, other prominent figures, including Zila Parishad chief Sweetie Singh, RJD MLA Akhtar-ul-Iman working District RJD Chief Usman Gani, state Yuvashakti chief Surendra Yadav and University Professor Arbind Kumar Das, called for the installation of the statue of Dr Ambedkar, which had been removed from Khagra Chowk after work of four-lane highway started, and wanted to knowhow the funds made for the same had been ciphoned off.
