Seven people killed as van, bus collide

Mysore, Apr 15 (UNI) Seven people, including five women and a child, were killed and 17 others injured in a collision between a private bus and a van at Belekere Gate near Channapatna on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, today.

Police said the tragedy occurred when the jeep driver tried to avoid a dog on the road, resulting in a collision with the bus coming from the opposite direction.

The ill-fated jeep was proceeding to Mysore from the city.

The injured were admitted to Mandya and Channapatna hospitals and two seriously injured persons were shifted to a Bangalore hospital.
