Rane urges need for nature conservation
Panaji, Apr 15 (UNI) Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane today urged the people to follow Lord Mahaveer's teachings and stressed the need for nature conservation.
Addressing an environment awareness programme organised by the Jain Samaj Mandal at Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary at Mollem in South Goa, Mr Rane warned the people against the dangers of global warming as a result of neglecting nature conservation.
''Environment plays a vital role in the life of humanity and we need to preserve it for posterity and Mahaveer's teachings are relevant even today in this aspect,'' Mr Rane said.
On this occasion, Prof Altaf Khan and President of the Jain Samaj Mandal Mr D T Barde highlighted the teachings of Mahaveer and called for promoting unity, integrity and religious tolerance.
