Police warn imposition of 'Goondas Act' on land law violation
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Apr 15 (UNI) Kancheepuram District Police Superintendent A Amalraj today said 'Goondas Act' will be imposed on people who occupy the lands in violation of law.
In a press release here, he said complaints received by him stated that after the increase in 'Real Estate' rates of lands and plots in the district, unscrupulous elements were trying to dispose of the lands of the original allottees to some vested interests by registering it with forged documents at an exorbintant rate.
Mr Amalraj said some buyers do not register the documents for the lands or plots within the stipulated period and threaten the sellers with anti-social elements to dispose it of for the same price after the expiry of the registeration period. Attempts were being made to occupy the owners lands by constructing huts and threatening the owners to sell the lands and plots at reduced rates, he alleged.
He said last year two persons were imprisoned under 'Goondas Act' for one year for trying to misuse the government lands and plots. In one such village, efforts were made to dispose of the land without the knowledge of the owner by preparing forged documents, he said.
He alleged that in many places, one land was sold to many buyers with the active connivance of the government officials by preparing forged documents.
He said such attempts would be nipped in the bud. The buyers of the lands and plots should enquire at the registered offices and properly verify the authenticity of the documents before going for purchases, he added.
