North West region begins to feel summer heat, Hisar hottest

Chandigarh, Apr 15 (UNI) Temperatures continued to soar in Punjab and Haryana, with Hisar turning out to be the hottest place across the North West at 43.6 degrees Celsius, 8 degrees above normal.

After Hisar, Ludhiana and Patiala were the hottest places in the region with temperatures touching the 40 degrees mark. The maximum temperature Patiala was 40.1 degrees, seven degrees above normal while at Ludhian a it was 40.0 degrees Celsius.

The maximum at Amritsar was 39.6 degrees, six degrees above normal, while the minimum was 19 degrees, three degrees above normal.

In fact both day and night temperatures in the North West including Himachal Pradesh were four to eight degrees above normal at most places.

The maximum in Karnal anmd Ambala was 39.0 degrees and 38.5 degrees respectively.

In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the maximum was 37.6 degrees, four degrees above normal. The night temperature was also quite high at 25 degrees, five degrees above normal.

In the hill state of Himachal Pradesh, the capital resort was warm at 24.4 degrees, four degrees above normal. Sundernagar and Bhuntar were also warm at 34.7 degrees and 32.8 degrees respectively.

The met office has predicted maenly dry weather with a further rise in maximum temperatures during the next 24 hours.
