Yet to receive invite for conf: Mirwaiz Hurriyat
Srinagar, Apr 15: The moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said it was yet to receive any invitation from the Centre to participate in the third round-table conference, proposed to be held in New Delhi on April 24.
''We have not received any invitation so far. The decision to participate in the third round-table conference will be taken only after we get the invite,'' Hurriyat spokesman advocate Shahid-ul-Islam said here.
He said the decision would be taken by the Executive Council, the highest decision-making body of the Hurriyat Conference after it received the invitation.
Significantly, the other faction of the Hurriyat Conference, led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has rejected the third round-table conference, saying the separatist amalgam was only in favour of tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the long-festering issue.
