Baramulla, Apr 15: Militants targeted an Army convoy when they triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as it was passing through an area in north Kashmir's Kupwara district today, but there were no reports of any casualties in the blast, police said.

They said militants detonated the powerful IED at Wavoora village on the Lolab-Kupwara road in the border district as the Army convoy was passing through the area.

However, there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property in the explosion, police added.

Troops later cordoned off the area and conducted a search to nab the militants responsible for the blast.

However, no one has been arrested in this connection so far.

Villagers later alleged that troops used force and beat several of them during the search operation.
