Metro rail project till YMCA chowk, Faridabad by 2010

Faridabad, Apr 15 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the Metro Rail Service would be extended upto YMCA Chowk here by 2010.

Later it would be further extended upto Ballabgarh and this project would cost Rs 1400 crore, he said while speaking at a function after laying the foundation stone of Punjabi Bhawan in Sector 16 here.

He said that the state government would take all possible steps to ensure overall development of the town and restore its status of being a major industrial centre. It was the first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru who developed this city and now Rs 2679 crore would be spent under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission for improving basic amenities here,''Mr Hooda said.

The work to construct a road over-bridge on National Highway number two would commence soon at he had already discussed the issue with the Union Ministers concerned and Chief Minister of Delhi Mrs Sheela Dikshit, he added.

Mr Hooda was all priase for those Punjabis who had migrated from Pakistan to India and settled in this area saying that they had made much progress through hard work and set an example for others to follow. He announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh out of his discretionary fund for construction of Punjabi Bhawan.

Mr Hooda also announced that noted industrialist Mr K C Lakhani and his brother Mr P D Lakhani would donate Rs 11 lakh each for the Bhawan.

Faridabad MP Avtar Bhadana announced he would give Rs 21 lakh for the construction of the Bhawan and Industries Minister Lacchman Das Arora would contribute Rs five lakh.
