Media ind to provide maximum jobs in 2006-13

Media
and
entertainment
industry
followed
by
automobile
sector
in
the
country
will
witness
a
major
growth
in
employment
by
2013,
says
an
official
report.
''The
employment
in
the
agriculture
sector
is
likely
to
decline
by
about
10
million
in
the
11th
plan
period
whereas
the
non-agro
sector
will
increase
by
more
than
five
per
cent
per
annum
during
the
period,''
the
report
points
out.
It
further
explains
that
the
non-agriculture
sector
is
going
to
absorb
the
shortfall
in
agriculture
sector
along
with
the
new
entrants
into
the
labour
force.
West
Government
Department
of
Labour
which
has
done
an
extensive
study
predicts
that
about
760
million
youth
are
likely
to
enter
the
job
market
by
2020.
It
stated
the
other
sectors
like
manufacturing
and
capital
intensive
firms
would
have
to
contribute
enormously
to
occupy
the
new
entrants.
Attention
would
also
be
given
to
food
processing,
textiles,
small
and
medium
industries,
labour
department
principal
secretary
Subesh
Das
said.
He
futher
stated
that
most
of
the
service
sector
jobs
would
be
in
the
informal
sector
and
less
paying
adding
that
jobs
created
in
the
informal
sector
would
be
of
contractual
nature.
According
to
a
statistical
report
presented
by
the
department
in
the
Employment
Summit
2006
during
the
11th
Plan
stated
that
media
industry
would
experience
an
annual
growth
of
18
per
cent
and
employement
growth
of
27
per
cent
followed
by
automobile
15.6
per
cent
and
20.8
per
cent
respectively.
The
IT-ITES
would
have
a
22
per
cent
annual
industry
growth
with
emloyment
growth
of
19
per
cent.
The
retail
services
which
provided
maximum
emloyment
of
25.8
per
cent
during
1999-2000
would
fall
drastically
to
a
mere
eight
per
cent
during
2006-2013.
